Wheaton River Opening in the Spring
After a long, cold winter in the Yukon Territory, the rising temperatures of early spring bring about some pretty neat changes in the landscape. While the snow was staying put on the mountains above, the ice over the Wheaton River in the valley below was melting away fairly rapidly during the last days of our stay in the Wheaton River valley. There were still some pretty big shelves of ice along the edges, but the main channel down the middle was mostly open.
