Shredded Bark

Heather took this photo of bark shredding away from a tree trunk while we were out camping in New York last July.  It was a rather lonely tree amongst a variety of meadow shrubs and grasses, and it looked even lonelier with its shattered covering.  I think the photo works well as a black and white photo that shows the contrast between the rough bark and smooth interior trunk.
