Winter is On the Horizon
I’m back! The last photo was posted back in February…but semi-regular photos haven’t really been posted for a much longer time period. I don’t want to get your hopes up (or my own), but I’d really like to get back into a routine of sharing photos…so we’ll see how this goes!
Here’s a bit of background to get us up to speed — since starting this site 6 years ago (11.15.2008 was my first entry), a lot has certainly changed in my life. Starting in 2012, I had a bit of difficulty posting a new photo every single day with both a new home and a pregnant wife, and there were multiple stretches of more than a couple weeks where I wasn’t able to post any photos. By the time 2013 rolled along and our son Nolan was born, I completely fell off the bandwagon! Time I might have spent picking a photo to post and write about was spent changing diapers or sleeping… By January 2014, I hadn’t posted anything in 9 months and I attempted to get back into regular monthly or weekly postings, but even that just didn’t happen. So now it is November 2014, and I’m giving it another go-around…the upshot of having not posted much of anything over the past 2 years is I definitely have plenty of great photos to share!
So to follow up yesterday’s Thanksgiving photo, here is a sunset shot I took this month with Nolan in our backyard. We were doing some posed family shots in the last light of the day, and after sitting still, Nolan enjoyed being able to roam around. We’re mostly set for winter, and we hope you are too!
February Backyard Sunset
Gotta love a bright February sunset through the trees after a nice bit of accumulated snow!
1 Year at Our Home!
And just like that, Heather and I have been homeowners for a full year! It was a year ago that we closed on our home…but by the time we got to back to our apartment after the closing, it was pretty late, so we didn’t even get to the house that day. We were there the next day, though, and were treated to an awesome fiery sunset on our first night at the house.
It has been a fun year of home ownership full of little projects, bigger projects, and annoying projects, and while we certainly didn’t check off everything on our “2012 To-Do” list for the house, we made some good progress and are looking forward to our 2nd year.
Cloudy Ocean Sunset
Well, it wasn’t all that cloudy…in fact, most of the sky was clear. But a line of small clouds near the horizon added to a neat sunset as we cruised along in a big boat in the Caribbean.
Vibrant Yukon Sunset
On one of the last nights I spent in the town of Faro in the Yukon Territory, my buddy Ken and I were able to catch a spectacular sunset that cycled through some very vibrant reds/oranges/yellows. The surrounding mountains only added to the visual treat.
Summer Sunset in New York
What’s not to love about a summer sunset, especially when you get to enjoy one on a lil’ camping trip? The sun sank behind some clouds a bit above the actual horizon on this August evening, but it still created a great sunset sky over the rolling hills in this area of New York.
What’s not to love about a colorful sunset?? This photo was taken on Independence Day a few years ago while camping up in New York. The sun had dipped down behind the distant hill in an orange blaze, and as it sank away even further, some thin layers of clouds were painted red and pink and purple by the setting sun’s rays.
